On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to Sevilla, to the XLII Congress of the Specialized Group of Organometallic Chemistry (GEQO) of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry to be held on September 11-13, 2024, at the Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales of the Universidad de Sevilla.

Along the last 42 years, since the first meeting in Alcalá de Henares in 1981, the GEQO meeting has provided an excellent framework to the Spanish organometallic chemistry community for sharing, disseminating and discussing most recent achievements in the field and also to foster and strengthen collaborations between research groups.

The scientific program of the XLII GEQO will cover a wider range of topics, including main group, transition metal and lanthanide-actinide chemistry, electro- and photo-chemistry, supramolecular chemistry and catalysis among others. We are delighted to have world leading scientists as plenary and invited speakers who we hope will encourage other researchers to attend and to contribute with oral and posters presentations.

Beyond the scientific discourse, the city of Sevilla is renowned for its rich history, stunning architecture, lively culture, and warm climate. Of notable interest is its beautiful historic center and an architecture that showcases a blend of different styles, including Moorish, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque influences. The stunning Cathedral of Seville, the iconic Giralda and the emblematic Alcázar de Sevilla (a UNESCO World Heritage) contrast with the modern Las Setas de Sevilla, the biggest wood-made structure in the world, showcasing the connection between the old and the new world. Besides, Sevilla will host the Bienal de Flamenco in September 2024, a great opportunity to soak up in this great art.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to the XLII GEQO in Sevilla in 2024!
